Sallie Livingston, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia and a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the state of Iowa.  Sallie’s therapeutic approach draws primarily from evidenced based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).   She enjoys being creative in the therapy room by incorporating art and other experiential activities.  Sallie has completed numerous training in DBT, ACT, and 2 day training in Cognitive Based Self-Compassion Training.  Sallie has also completed a multi-day trainings to be specialized in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and related disorders, through the Knowledge Tree and Emory University.  Sallie really enjoys working with children and adolescents (ages and up) as well as young adults.  Sallie’s clinical interests include working with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD.  Sallie also enjoys working with autistic youth (level 1) experiencing anxiety and mood dysregulation.  Sallie has worked internationally and is passionate about working with immigrant families and first generation young adults.

Prior to joining Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta, Sallie was a therapist with Healthy Minds Psychology Associates and founder of Sunrise Trail Counseling (2023-present), where she provided individual and family therapy for clients ages 10 through adulthood. While at Healthy Minds, Sallie also co-facilitated two social skills groups for neurodiverse teens. Previously, she served as a clinical supervisor and therapist at Chris 180, a non-profit providing community based mental health care.   Sallie held multiple roles at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including as a Behavioral Mental Health Therapist, providing individual and group therapy to children and adolescents with chronic health conditions, and and earlier as a Psychiatric Social Worker providing psychiatric assessments and placements for children experiencing mental health crisis. Sallie’s experience also includes serving 11 years as a School Social Worker for Henry County Schools, a part-time contract Clinical Specialist at Hillside Atlanta in the community intervention program providing in-home DBT focused therapy to teens and families transitioning home after residential placements. Internationally, she worked for two years as an Aftercare Fellow with International Justice Mission in the Philippines.

She received her MSW from Georgia State University in 2001 and achieved a BS in Psychology from Gardner-Webb University in 1999. Sallie has taught undergraduate sociology and social work courses at Point University, and has a passion for clinical supervision and training for young social workers. Throughout her career, she has provided counseling, crisis intervention, clinical supervision, and advocacy in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, community agencies, and international NGOs.  She has focused on serving the underserved and is passionate about improving access to behavioral health care.

Sallie is an animal lover who struggles to walk past a dog without asking to pet it.  She has a neurotic rescue dog named George who may make occasional appearances in virtual sessions.  Sallie enjoys hiking in the north GA mountains with her dog and partner, exploring the beltline and spending time with her family, and is a hopeless diet coca-cola addict.  She also enjoys finding new series to stream and listening to books on Audible.
